How to Go from “Meh” to “YASSS” with Every Post.

👋 Welcome, CTE Legends!

We’ve seen your hustle. Your dreams. Your fire. But let’s be honest—some of those social media posts are giving… “DIY flyer on Microsoft Word in 2003.” 😅

It’s time to level up!

This lil' guide is here to help you make posts that POP, whether you're sharing a new product, a service, a sale, or your million-dollar idea (manifest it!). Let’s make your posts scroll-stopping, share-worthy, and oh-so-CTE.

🧠 STEP 1: THE CONCEPT – WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY?

Before you slap text on an image and hit "post," ask yourself:

✨ What am I sharing? 🎯 Who is this for? 💥 What do I want people to do after seeing this?

Examples:

  • Want sales? Say it clearly: “R30 coffee and a cookie combo – this week only!”

  • Want attention? Hook them: “I started this business with R100 and a dream…”

  • Want bookings? Make it easy: “DM to book your spot now – only 3 left!”

💡 CTE Tip: Don’t sell the product—sell the story, the solution, the vibe.

🎨 STEP 2: THE DESIGN – MAKE IT PRETTY (AND READABLE)

Nobody likes to squint. Let’s fix that.

DO: ✅ Use high-quality images (no blurry snacks or dark selfies) ✅ Keep your text short & bold ✅ Stick to 2 fonts max ✅ Use colours that don’t fight with each other (Canva = your bestie)

DON’T: 🚫 Use 15 fonts in one post 🚫 Write essays on your poster 🚫 Upload screenshots of WhatsApps (we see you 👀)

💡 CTE Tip: If you wouldn't stop scrolling for it, why should anyone else?

✍️ STEP 3: THE COPY – WORDS THAT WOW

Keep it light, clear, and human. You’re not writing a school essay—speak like you’d speak to a friend.

HOOK 'EM FAST: Start strong!

“I failed 3 times before getting it right.” “Ever had a facial that made you cry happy tears?”

ADD VALUE: What’s in it for them?

“We’re helping women launch businesses with zero upfront costs.”

CALL TO ACTION (CTA): Tell them what to do next!

“Drop a 🔥 if you want this deal.” “Link in comments to order.”

💡 CTE Tip: Emojis are not just for teens. Use them to break up text and add personality!

✅ BONUS CHECKLIST: Before You Hit POST

  •  Is my message clear?

  •  Is the image eye-catching?

  •  Can a stranger understand what I offer in 5 seconds?

  •  Is there a clear CTA?

  •  Did I spellcheck? (Your/You’re matters, fam.)

BONUS: SAME POST, DIFFERENT PLATFORMS

Not all social media platforms speak the same language. You’ve gotta dress your post for the party it’s attending. Here’s the cheat sheet:

📘 Facebook (Your CTE Playground)

Vibe: Community, personality, info-richBest For: Local support, storytelling, selling, events, engaging with groups

Post Tips:

  • Write a proper caption with heart or humour

  • Add a clear image or flyer (CTE loves a good visual!)

  • Include a link or “DM me” CTA

  • Ask a question to start convo

👉 Great for: telling your story, posting longer updates, sharing group-friendly content

📸 Instagram

Vibe: Visual, aesthetic, curatedBest For: Brand building, product showcasing, reels, lifestyle

Post Tips:

  • Stunning image or short video first, caption second

  • Keep text minimal on graphics

  • Use hashtags (up to 10–15 max)

  • Reels > static posts in 2025

👉 Great for: pretty product shots, before & afters, short video tips, inspirational quotes

🐦 Twitter (X)

Vibe: Quick, witty, reactiveBest For: Opinions, hot takes, news, networking

Post Tips:

  • Say it in 280 characters or less

  • Be bold or clever—stand out!

  • Use trending hashtags sparingly

  • Add value in threads if needed

👉 Great for: thought leadership, quick tips, joining conversations, memes for days

💼 LinkedIn

Vibe: Professional, value-driven, story-tellingBest For: B2B, networking, advice, sharing wins

Post Tips:

  • Share your business journey or lessons learned

  • Don’t be too “salesy”—focus on impact

  • Long-form captions are OK here

  • Always include a CTA (like “Let’s connect” or “Open to collaborations”)

👉 Great for: personal branding, networking, sharing insights & growing authority

💡 CTE Tip: Don’t copy-paste the exact same thing everywhere. Repackage the message to suit the platform—same message, different flavour!

💬 FINAL WORDS FROM HQ

You don’t need to be a pro designer or copywriter to show up online like a boss. You just need clarity, confidence, and a bit of fun!

We're here to support each other, but remember—first impressions count. Make your post work as hard as you do!

Got a question? Want feedback? Pop your draft in the group and ask, “Hey fam, how can I level this up?” That’s what CTE is all about.

Go forth and post with power! 💪
